In-House Legal Counsel (Construction)
Agile / Remote or Office Based
Our fantastic property client is looking to hire a dedicated construction lawyer to work as part of its friendly, supportive and high performing Legal team.
Working alongside other lawyers (corporate/commercial, property, litigation) you will be the lead construction lawyer who can expect an interesting and varied workload across JCT, major works, remediation, cladding and fire safety contracts. You might be drafting contracts or clauses, managing or mitigating risks, advising property managers on the ground or communicating with building contractors and their advisers. You will liaise with stakeholders at all levels within this heavyweight property business and be responsible for managing external lawyers in this area when required.
In addition to construction work (which will form the majority of the work) you will be fortunate enough to broaden out and gain additional experience in commercial and corporate work. This really does present an excellent opportunity for a construction lawyer to move in-house and bring their specialist knowledge at a relatively junior level whilst offering some diversification and widening of the legal skill set.
You are likely to have at least 2+PQE in private practice or you might already be in-house. Personality wise, this role would suit someone with a commercial outlook; someone ready to roll up their sleeves and make their mark in an established Legal team and wider business.
Location wise, you have the option of working 100% remotely so this role could be based anywhere in the UK. Alternatively, you might wish to spend some or all of your time in one of our client's offices - there are lawyers in offices in the West Midlands and Home Counties but London or Bristol are also options.
