Legal Counsel - Litigation

We are instructed by a market leading, well-known FMCG / retail client which supplies millions of customers across its national network of locations and via its website each year.
Our client has a newly created opportunity for a solicitor or legal executive to join its established Legal team and provide legal support and advice on all claims and litigation brought by and against the business across the UK and Ireland. Additionally, there is the opportunity to gain experience advising on regulatory and compliance matters.
The successful hire can expect to provide proactive and practical litigation advice to a number of stakeholders across the business (including branch managers, regional managers, divisional directors, the head of customer service and the insurance manager).
The work will include small claims (which this hire will be responsible for conducting) as well as more complex, high value claims (where this hire will be responsible for instructing external lawyers). It will work closely with the rest of the legal team and wider compliance and risk teams and help implement regulatory frameworks and processes, support on data privacy, marketing / ASA queries and H&S.
Prior in-house experience is desirable although not essential. The ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively is essential as is the ability to build strong business relationships at all levels.
This role can be home or office based to suit the individual but the expectation is that will be 1 day a week attendance in the office, which is easily commutable from a variety of locations including the wider East and West Midlands (Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Birmingham, Warwickshire etc).
